Getting HIGH on decluttering from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

I got rid of more CDs/DVDs yesterday. A few more have made it onto the desk to be looked at this morning, including a new box of 10 CDs that's not even opened. So that will be easy to cope with. Everything fits into one container now, which is good news. I'll just keep whittling those down until I get to the end. You can't imagine how exciting this is!

I went to spin class yesterday and had a great workout, but I have to say that I got more UP feelings (those endorphins) from tossing ...

Easy Mitred Binding from Daisychain Quilter

Another quick easy tutorial for binding.  Each time I vlog I learn something new. Still be kind with your comments.

This tutorial is slightly shorter than the last binding vlog as I did not repeat some of the steps.

I quilted this wall hanging but unpick it as I did not like it. That was many years ago!

During 'lock down', I thought it just needed a simpler style of quilting and to be finished.

After quilting it, just sat in my UFO box. I have decided that this winter I am going to tried and complete as many UFO ...

My Journey with the Moonbeams Charity Quilt Along from Moda Lissa

Moonbeams QAL

MOONBEAMS QAL

I’m thrilled to share my journey with the Moonbeams Charity Quilt Along, the 11th in the series designed by the Fat Quarter Shop to support Make-A-Wish, North Central Texas division.

As many of you know I suffer from Paralysis by Analysis. Not a medically diagnosed affliction but a self induced one. When I see a quilt, I want to make it just like it is shown. How about you? Same thing, right? Picking the fabrics and color is the hardest part of quilting for me. Add another layer of pressure knowing that this quilt will ...

365-day PROGRESS from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

Did I accomplish three things yesterday? I did, but I would really have liked to have done one more. That didn't happen, but I went to bed exhausted and happy!

What amazes me is that even with the "downtime," my days are filled. Well, I'll never be done with all the stuff I have to do. But since I'm enjoying what I do, I can't complain.

Here's some stuff I finished up for our machine embroidery session yesterday. These items are made from clothesline rope. I think it was the day before leaving for Quilt ...

Time for another Quiltalong from Moda Lissa

Quilt-Alongs

One of the good things that came from Covid is the Quiltalong which kept us busy once we had finished making masks.  We could hop online and join like minded quilters quilting along and sharing our project online. Recently some of the customers at the Old Craft Store joined me in an IN PERSON QUILTALONG. It was fun and of course we had them parade their quilt tops out along the downtown square.

TIME FOR ANOTHER QUILT ALONG

The “Little Light of Mine” quilt was on display at The Old Craft Store in Carrollton, Texas and some of the ...

What I worked on from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

I can't believe it's the start of another week! I'm not worrying about that to-do list since I will be away for the entire week. However, one more item is off the list, and I need to do some follow-up this morning.

I still have three samples to finish making before I leave, so those will be my focus. And I've got a fourth to work on if I can! The bottom line is that I could take all of them and finish them at the show, but I prefer to work on my samples at ...

Progress Report from Moda Lissa

Progress Report

I thought I was the kind of quilter that started a project, finished it and moved on. The majority of the time I am making a project that has a deadline for a trade show, book, blog post for work and more.

Recently, I happen to look up at my design wall and realized I have quite a few things going on. Time to start my progress reports again to keep me in  line.

Moda Blockheads-Spinning Star from Moda Lissa

Moda’s Blockheads

Are you following along on Moda’s weekly block series? Blockheads 5? Today is my day to share a quilt block pattern.

I choose a block that was inspired by an antique Americana quilt. I somehow rembered this block in my mind and just jumped in to create it. I made several different versions and finally decided on this one.

Spinning Star

This block is certainly a skill builder. Anything that has eight points all coming together could be problematic. Moda made a video with tips and tricks and here is the link.

Spinning star is assembled ...

Piece and Quilt Sampler- month 2 from Moda Lissa

We are back again with month 2 of the Piece and and Quilt Sampler project.

Last month we made one block that consisted of 12- 3″ blocks surrounding a 6″ block. It was lots of little fiddly sewing so pat yourself on the back and get ready for month 2.

12- 3″ blocks for month one.
Shoreline by Camille Roskelley. Aren’t these fabrics yummy?!
Breakdown of what blocks to make each month

These blocks hold go together fairly quickly. Have fun with the layout and mix it up some if you want. I love squinting at the block below ...

Table Topper from Daisychain Quilter

I made this table runner for my mother many years ago using fabric I have purchased in Cyprus.

It is a simple and easy design. Very quick to make. I have made many table runners using this method. I think I will make another but this time photographing as I go so I can write up instructions.

This table topper is still being used today on my mother's coffee table. It is always a pleasure to see the items I make for family still be treasured and used as intended.

Resolutions from Moda Lissa

We are a month into 2024. I don’t usually make resolutions. I don’t pick a word for the year.

But I have done something quilty each year. The majority of the things listed below are very predictable for me but I did concentrate an entire year on each. This all started several years ago with my self proclaimed, Year of the DOT, polka dot. I put a polka dot fabric on the back of every quilt I made that year. I am still a huge fan of using dots wherever I can.

the year of the polka-dots

Hugs and Kisses from Moda Lissa

Hugs and Kisses, X’s and O’s just another reason to start a quilt. What is it about Valentine’s Day that makes me want to start another quilt? Duh, as I type this I realize what a silly question that is. I always want to start anther quilt regardless of the day.I am knee deep in Quilt-Alongs, Moda Blockhead’s, samples for work and a few overdue baby gifts but I stumbled on my block from the Blockheads 3 series and remembered I had always wanted to make this as an overall quilt.

I was going to ...

Blockheads Update from Moda Lissa

New Year, New Projects or in this case a continuation of last year’s Blockheads 5. Each blockheads series I struggle with what my setting is going to be. While I think I am one of those go with the flow kind of gals, I know I suffer from paralysis from analysis.  Knowing what the layout is, does influence the fabrics you are using in your blocks or at least the color placement.

Do you struggle from this also?

This is the newest block to start 2024 off with a bang. The block is from Sherri McConnell of A Quilting ...

I love this quilt so much! from Moda Lissa

Fall Quilt Magic

There’s a distinct magic in the air that can only mean one thing – fall has arrived or kind of. We are finally experiencing a relief from the extreme heat in Texas. We can’t wait to cozy up, to savor the simple pleasures, and to find warmth in the midst of nature’s gentle descent into winter. What better way to capture the feeling of fall than by pulling out quilts and decorating for the season.

In a world filled with mass-produced items, there’s an undeniable charm in creating something with our own hands. A ...

Christmas Connections from Moda Lissa

Nothing better than a new Christmas magazine arriving in October, This gives me plenty of time to drool over the designs and actually get one made before the holidays. I think I am going to tackle the cover quilt from Lisa Bongean and Alysha Haran. The quilt is made using 2 1/2″ jelly roll strips so it should be fast to jump on in. Fingers crossed.

The final countdown from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

The final countdown. In a little over 24 hours, I'll be on my way to the airport. Will the second deadline be finished? I have no choice, as it ALL has to be done, as it's not something I can fluff my way through.

I'm happy to report that EXCELLENT progress was made yesterday. There is NO audiobook happening, no radio, nothing but silence, and you know what? I LOVE it! I've got time to think, to reflect, my brain is relaxed, there is no rush, and so far - no panic! Everything is going as planned ...
